Come to Stratford early and stay late! Construction delays may be significant in summer 2019 so be sure not to miss out on any fun!

Hwy 6 to Embro/401: Replacement of large culvert Aug-Nov

Expect delays but road will not be closed. Hwy 7 detour is suggested as above, if there is an overlap.

Hwy 8 between Stratford and Shakespeare: In progress

Beginning in early June, stretches of this road between the west end of Shakespeare and the east end of Stratford will be reduced on weekdays to a single lane, with flag people controlling traffic in both directions. Delays may be lengthy, so please allow additional time for your trip. (Both lanes are expected to be open on evenings and weekends.)

The Small-Mart Story

In recent times we have seen the decline of the unique city centre, and the unchecked sprawl of the urban tract retail model all over North America. Small-Mart is to be the antithesis of all of that, a small independent Canadian retailer which is essentially the opposite of a formulaic big box environment.

Small-Mart is not intended as a sneer at the big guy, but rather a cheer for the little guy. Although the name rhymes with the biggest of the big, and contains the word Mart, which has often been synonymous with the large or discounted, the name is more about a nod to the past; a contemporary recreation of the historical general store where one might have found everything from horse bridals to flour. Just as mini-marts sprung up as a reaction to large supermarkets and filled a consumer need for convenience, a small-mart is a local alternative to a big box department store with character being the goal.

Small-Mart is one of those stores you can spend a lot of time in checking out everything from Retro Candy to Canadian brands such as Red Canoe, Herschel Supply Co., Melanie Auld, Biko Jewelry, Captain Canuck and Solair Chairs. We have novelties, design books, purses, womens and mens clothing from Out of Print in Brooklyn, retro games, gifts and so much more.

This is a shop you NEED to see for yourself. Come in, have fun, and you'll be back!

Don’t miss the fun due to construction delays!

“Stratford itself is the type of walkable wholesome town Rodgers and Hammerstein might write a musical about.”
